in the owners manual is says to empty the blowby bottle at every oil change. i've been through over a dozen B series and never seen or heard of a blow by bottle. must be something dodge puts on em.

it wasnt in my owners, it was in a 2002, but it was a new manual so it may of been a misprint.
i asked my teacher and he had never heard of one either? it may just be on the 600's?

it talkes about it here too
Oil Leak at front of engine
blowby bottle full; empty at each oil change
steep descent ( >23° slope ) will spill oil through the vent tube
Loose oil filters - A series of revised oil filter numbers has been issued to address the problem

The 2000 and up Ram diesel uses a crankcase vent on the front of the engine. This vent ends in a plastic blow-by bottle behind the engine cooling fan, which blows fumes back into the passenger compartment after the oil is changed. Many owners have extended the vent to reduce the fumes.

ok i am going to revisit this topic. Ok here is my theory, your blow-by "aka slobber tube, aka puke bucket" is there to allow excess pressure to vent and along with the pressure comes used oil. Now that seems like a waste to me...would it not work to tap a breather on top of the valve cover, while stoping up the orginal blowby tube? this way only the gases are escaping... now i also looked at the walters airsep...this seems to be a good idea but at 500 bucks its not in the budget. anyone else out there got a suggestion that i aint thinking of.
I have already reloacted the orginal bottle, this just doesnt seem effeicent enough

Can't you just vent in to the atmosphere? Thats what my 93 ctd in my blow truck does...tube goes down the driverside of the block and vents the the...ground.
